Pieter was Lucas’ only son. He too was as an ashdealer, in association with his father. Maybe to make new business-contacts he traveled ‘to the east’ in 1661; ashes were mainly imported from Poland and the Baltic states. Pieter and Agniesje Hugaert lived on the Stadssingel, in the complex that was built by Pieters father.

Pieter died young, at the age of only 35. As a widow, Agniesje continued the potash trade, until she remarried Jan van Bronckhorst, also a Mennonite merchant. With her children she moved to Amsterdam, where Van Bronckhorst lived. However, this second marriage was not a very happy one; they were soon separated. Van Bronckhorst left the country and died in 1693, on the Cape of Good Hope, South-Africa.

Youngest son of Pieter and Agniesje was Pieter de Clercq (1661-1730)
